Product description
Pair of hand-decorated Dresden Porcelain cups, made in the 1950s. Saucer: 13.5 cm. The term Dresden porcelain identifies a refined decorative tradition developed between Dresden and the nearby Saxon area, particularly flourishing between the 19th and early 20th century. More than a single manufacturer, the term encompasses various workshops and ateliers specializing in the decoration of porcelains, often made on blanks from other German factories. Dresden production is recognizable for its richly ornamental and Rococo-inspired taste, with delicate hand-painted flowers, gallant scenes, gilded motifs, and figures molded with great attention to detail. Also characteristic are the polychrome floral decorations, relief applications, and elaborate gold borders. Among the best-known manufacturers and ateliers are Helena Wolfsohn, Carl Thieme of Potschappel, and Richard Klemm, who contributed to making Dresden porcelain famous among the European aristocracy and bourgeoisie. Even today, these porcelains are appreciated for the quality of their painting and decorative richness, a testament to a tradition in which 18th-century elegance is reinterpreted through the historicist taste of the 19th century. Additional details: - Brand: Ceramica di Dresden - Style: Storicista - Colour: policromo - Colour: oro - Period: 1950s
