Product description
An exceptional pair of totemic sculptures standing approximately 1.80 meters tall, originating from the exclusive custom decor of the legendary first Nobu Paris restaurant, which opened in 2001 on Rue Marbeuf.
Designed under the direction of the world-renowned American interior architecture firm Rockwell Group, these unique pieces perfectly embody the "Luxury Primitive", Wabi-Sabi, and ethnic minimalist trends inspired by Balinese craftsmanship.
Each totem is carved from a solid, heavy exotic wood trunk. The interior has been traditionally hollowed out by hand, creating a striking blend of visual lightness and raw, organic texture. The structure stands on a distinct, oversized rounded base—a signature design element of the venue—ensuring perfect stability on the floor.
Decor Potential:
With their powerful visual identity, these pieces create a spectacular and ultra-contemporary contrast in any high-end interior:
• Placed as sentinels or space dividers alongside the crown moldings and herringbone parquet of a Parisian Haussmann apartment.
• Installed as statement pieces against polished concrete and lime-washed walls in an Ibiza finca or a Mediterranean villa.
• Thanks to their hollowed-out design, they are ideal for integrating internal lighting systems (LEDs), transforming them into sculptural light columns at night.
Condition & Specifications:
• Height: Approx. 1.80 m / 5.9 ft
• Top Diameter: Approx. 40 cm / 15.7 in (hollowed section)
• Base: Oversized rounded base for perfect stability
• Material: Solid teak / Ancient exotic wood carved from a single trunk
• Provenance: Exclusive commission by Rockwell Group for Nobu Paris (2001)
• Condition: Very good vintage condition with a beautiful natural patina
