Product description
A pair of 1970s photo frames characterised by the combination of transparency and colour, reflecting the experimentation with plastic materials that became increasingly prominent in small furnishings and decorative objects during the period. Their essential form, defined by a rectangular profile with gently rounded corners, allows the material and its optical qualities to become the defining elements of the design.
Made of Perspex, the frames consist of two overlapping elements secured at the corners by small metal pins. The transparent section creates a luminous border around the photograph, while the back panel features a distinctive shifting colour that changes from deep blue to violet tones depending on the light and viewing angle. The thickness of the material further enhances this effect along the edges, where transparency and colour overlap.
Simple in construction yet strongly defined by their use of Perspex, the frames reflect the 1970s fascination with synthetic materials, transparent surfaces and saturated colours. The photograph appears almost suspended within the structure, transforming a functional object into a small decorative piece.
Condition: Good overall condition. Minor signs of use. The purple color is due to discoloration from the sun
