Product description
Antique jugs in terracotta, from Central Europe. They form a pair of folk pottery from the turn of the 19th to the 20th century.
Fired-clay jugs were used in homes across Central Europe for water and wine.
One jug, ovoid in body with a narrow neck, a lip and a handle, is of pale clay with bands painted in orange-red. The other, of reddish clay, has a lipped rim and an arched handle over the mouth.
The matt clay shows a patina of use, with stains and small losses on the surface.
Grouped on a sideboard or a shelf, they work as vases for dried branches.
