Product description
Antique pots in glazed ceramic, from Central Europe. They form a pair of folk pottery from the turn of the 19th to the 20th century.
Vessels of this kind were used in the kitchen and pantry to store fats, preserves and grains.
The larger one, with a wide mouth and one handle, carries zigzag bands of pale green slip and small rosettes of dark dots on an olive-brown glaze; the smaller one, with a cylindrical body, is glazed in cream with patches of brown, orange and green slip.
The glazes have an uneven tone, typical of firing, with small losses on the mouths and a surface softened by use.
On a shelf or a wooden table, they serve as a planter, a utensil holder or a vase.
