Product description
Antique jugs in glazed ceramic, from Central Europe. They form a pair of folk pottery from the early 20th century. Jugs of this kind were used in rural homes to store and serve water, milk or wine. The larger one, with a slender neck and a ribbon handle, is glazed in olive green with an ochre mouth; the smaller one, with a wide belly and pouring lip, has an amber glaze with incised ridges, applied green studs and a green rim and foot. The glazes shine with deep reflections, with small losses on the mouths and the unglazed, earthy base of the larger one. Grouped on a sideboard or a shelf, they work as vases for dried branches or flowers.
