ProfessionalProduct description
Antique bowl and jug in glazed ceramic, from Central Europe. They form a pair of folk earthenware from the turn of the 19th to the 20th century.
Pieces of this kind were intended for the kitchen and the pantry: the bowl for mixing or serving, and the jug for water or milk.
The bowl, with a wide rim and narrow base, and the jug, with an ovoid body, ribbon handle and pouring lip, are glazed in cream with blue bands; the jug adds a wavy line and vertical strokes.
The cream glaze has a soft sheen and small losses on the rims, and the unglazed base of the bowl shows a warm brown tone.
In a rustic kitchen or on a wooden table, the bowl works as a fruit bowl and the jug as a vase.
