Title: ‘Rook!’ Beautiful portrait of a rook, painted in April 2021. The background color is a dark gray-blue. (as in the photos). This portrait is a continuation of the series Dutch birds. Painted by Britt Kleiberg 1980, Amersfoort Atelier located in Harderwijk. Britt paints animals from all over the world with a story. During the corona period she has put extra spotlight on Dutch birds! - She completed a degree in Graphic Design and Styling before finding her calling in contemporary art. Born into a family with a healthy interest in art, she was exposed to art at an early age and started painting when she was 10 years old. She loved going to museums and is grateful for the early education she received. It has given her the background for her current journey as a contemporary artist. Positivity, colors, and freedom to roam. The use of color is a key part of her artistic vocabulary: "Colors make people happy, and I want to bring joy and positivity into the world." Her palette can represent an animal's natural environment, hunting, or an emotion; depending on what she wants to communicate. And however subdued, the background is part of it. She uses curiously small color shapes to "fill" her animals. "These represent imaginary continents," she explains, "and can represent the areas where the animal belongs, or where it wants to be.
