Portrait of a herring. Painted on wood. Title: "Haha Herring on the Planck. From a series of 36 herrings. Painted in 2017 by Britt Kleiberg. Britt paints animals from all over the world with a story. During the corona period, she highlighted the Dutch birds! She majored in Graphic Design and Styling before finding her calling in contemporary art. Born into a family with a healthy interest in art, she was exposed to art at an early age and began painting when she was 10 years old. She loved going to museums and is grateful for the early education she received. It has given her the background for her current journey as a contemporary artist. Positivity, colors and freedom to move. The use of color is an important part of her artistic vocabulary: "Colors make people happy and I would like to bring joy and positivity into the world. Her color palette can represent an animal's natural environment, hunting or an emotion; depending on what she wants to communicate. And however more subdued, the background is part of it. She uses strange little shapes of color to "fill" her animals. These represent imaginary continents, she explains, and can represent the areas where the animal belongs or where it wants to be. In my artistic world, anything is possible.
