Product description
Old Didgeridoo with traditional Aboriginal Serpent and Turtle painting This Didgeridoo has been with us for a long time, thirty years. When we received it, it was already old in this condition and only served as a presence in the house. However, if it is to be played, it requires an enthusiast to skillfully restore it. It is a wooden Didgeridoo with a painted snake, serpent as the central motif. The snake shape runs almost the entire length; the red, white, and dark outline makes the design clearly visible. It also has a turtle figure, painted in dots and outlined with red and white. Together with the snake and the dot pattern, this belongs to Aboriginal art and may refer to a certain symbolism belonging to the maker or region or community from which it originates (we suspect Australia). Didgeridoos are traditionally made by cleaning and finishing a suitable, naturally hollowed-out tree trunk — often eucalyptus. They originate from Aboriginal communities in Northern and Central Australia, where different groups have their own names, manufacturing methods, and playing traditions. The characteristic low sound is produced by vibrating the lips; experienced players often use circular breathing to sustain the tone. > This Didgeridoo is not in playable condition; the ravages of time have left their marks, see the photos. Signs of wear: cracks, damage to paint (see text and photos)
