The Knoll Barcelona Pouf is a design by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. Along with the iconic Barcelona Chair, this footstool was part of the 1929 World's Fair in Barcelona. The series, which was exhibited there for 7 months, was later named after it. The chairs served as a resting place for the King and Queen of Spain, though they reportedly never sat on them. Nevertheless, the series became a symbol of modern design. In 1953, Mies gave the production rights to his close friend Florence Knoll. To this day, Knoll publishes the series, including this pouf. Although it is often presented as a footstool accompanying the Barcelona Chair, it is actually a standalone pouf. The elegant chrome cross frame forms the basis of the design and is hand-polished. On top of this, a woven frame of leather straps has been created, upon which the cushion rests. This comfortable foam cushion is upholstered in top-quality leather. All panels are hand-hemmed and finished with buttons.
