Original 'D70' daybed sofa designed by Osvaldo Borsani and produced by Tecno, Italy, in 1954. This Mid - Century classic functions as both a sculptural sofa and a fully adjustable daybed. Its ingenious mechanism - with brass swivel knobs and a tiered adjustable plate - allows back and seat to be adjusted independently to 18 different positions. With one twist, the sofa effortlessly transforms into a comfortable daybed.
The sofa has a black painted metal tubular frame and is upholstered in an anthracite gray fabric. A loose cushion is included. The brass details and visible hinge points underscore the technical ingenuity and refined Italian modernism of the 1950s.
The fabric is in good vintage condition with slight discoloration from age and use; the foam is still firm and comfortable.
An exceptional piece of furniture that uniquely combines sophisticated design and functionality.
