Original Astrolabe Table by Oscar Tusquets for Aleph | Driade, designed in the late 1980s. A rare and sculptural design from the early Aleph period, executed in the largest size with a diameter of approximately 116 cm.
The table base consists of a conical metal foot with a four-arm support and a solid brass outer ring — a construction that references the historic astronomical instrument from which the design derives its name. Even without a tabletop, the base already has the appearance of a standalone sculptural object.
The original signature “ALEPH by Tusquets” is engraved in the metal.
The original tabletop is missing. This simultaneously offers the opportunity to rebuild the object to your own taste: for example, with clear or smoked glass, black mirror glass, travertine, marble, or wood. We used the table temporarily with a black mirror glass top to illustrate the possibilities; this top is not included in the sale.
The table is in used vintage condition with clear signs of age and use consistent with its age and material. Present are, among others:
* patina and oxidation on the brass and steel,
* discoloration and signs of wear on the base,
* and a crack/open seam in the conical base construction (see detail photos).
It is precisely this honest aging that gives the piece great character and confirms the authenticity of the early production period.
A rare opportunity to acquire one of Oscar Tusquets’ most recognizable designs from the late eighties / early nineties — completely original, hard to find, and with great potential to be reassembled as an exceptional centerpiece.
