(Palmqvist) was born in 1906 in Lenhovda, Sweden. He is best known for his collaboration with the Orrefors glassworks, for which Palmqvist designed the Fuga bowl series.
Palmqvist trained as an engraver in Orrefors, the town near his birthplace, where he would build a long and successful career in glass design. He graduated in 1931, specializing in engraving, and continued his studies in Stockholm at Konstfack (School of Arts, Crafts and Design) and the Royal Swedish Academy of Fine Arts. Palmqvist spent some time in Paris, but during World War II returned to the relative safety of the Orrefors glassworks, where he remained for the rest of his working life.
