I am offering this beautiful narrative Thonet high chair for sale. The chair was produced during the interwar period between 1919 and 1939. This can be traced by the two stamped brand marks under the seat. (See photo)
The letters “THONET” are pressed directly into the wood in clear block letters. During this period, Thonet still owned enormous factories in the Moravia region (present-day Czech Republic).
The stamped letters "CZECHOSLOVAKIA" indicate that the chair dates from after 1918. Czechoslovakia was founded at the end of the First World War.
What makes this high chair unique is the fact that it still has its original stain. The old stain, in combination with the wear on the arm and footrests, gives the chair a look shaped by time.
The hand-woven Viennese caning is still in good condition but shows wear appropriate for its age. It still has the sturdiness to sit on or place decoration on.
This also applies to repairs that have been carried out in a more modern way. Many of the original slotted screws are still present. A single screw has been replaced by a more modern one. See also the photos of the repairs and the replaced screw in the advertisement.
