Egon Eiermann's SE 42 chair is one of the iconic designs of German post-war modernism and exemplifies the functional clarity and constructive honesty of Bauhaus-inspired design. Designed in 1949, it impresses with its balanced proportions, slightly forward-tilted seat, and characteristically curved backrest, which combines ergonomic comfort with a minimalist, timeless design language. Made of molded plywood combined with solid beechwood and elastic rubber elements, the chair displays a warm yellowish-brown to brown wood tone with a visibly vibrant grain. The construction appears light and precise, yet remains stable and practical for everyday use – a typical characteristic of Eiermann's early designs for Wilde & Spieth.
Condition: Good, age-appropriate condition with minor signs of wear, fine scratches, and patina on the wood. Overall well-maintained and stable.
