This Pastoe chest of drawers, model CB05, is an iconic design by Cees Braakman from the Mid-Century Modern period. The piece of furniture represents Braakman's distinctive style, where functionality and sleek design go hand in hand.
The cabinet is made of birch wood. It features four spacious drawers. The construction rests on characteristic curved wooden loop legs, a detail that frequently recurs in Braakman's designs for Pastoe. The drawers are fitted with subtle, integrated handles that contribute to the minimalist profile of the furniture. The sides of the drawers have a distinctive curved shape.
The chest of drawers is in a condition befitting its age and previous use. The construction is still entirely sound. One drawer is missing a small piece of birch veneer; however, this is still present and can be glued back on. The original Pastoe stamp is still visible on the back, confirming the provenance and authenticity of the piece. Cees Braakman's handwritten signature is also present on the back.
