Product description
A stunning, authentic mid-century piece with an incredible history. This original 1959 oil painting titled Pfingstrosen (Peonies) is a masterful work by the renowned Swiss painter Charles Pasche (1915–1979). Born without arms, Pasche gained international acclaim for his extraordinary ability to paint entirely with his feet. He was a founding member of the prestigious Association of Mouth and Foot Painting Artists (VDMFK/AMFPA). The artwork features a classic, lush arrangement of deep red and soft pink peonies captured in a dark, reflective vase. It is beautifully preserved in its original, grand mid-century cream gallery frame with an elegant gold inner lip. Rich Historical Provenance on Reverse: The back of this piece tells a fascinating story of its travels through mid-century Europe: • Signature: Boldly signed and dated by the artist on the front canvas: "C. PASCHE 59." • Exhibition History: Features the original German exhibition label from the VDMFK in Vaduz (Liechtenstein), along with a large pink paper exhibition entry tag marked No. 31. • Danish Lineage: Fascinating handwritten pencil cursive maps out its distribution pathway or past ownership through rural Northern Jutland, Denmark, explicitly naming the towns of Tostrup, Møldrup, Hobro, and Aars, along with a reference to a local delivery route ("Aars Bilen"). • Studio Markings: Retains the original framing notes, inventory numbers (#822 and 29), and the red crayon warning "Bitte nicht schneiden" (Please do not cut). This exact original canvas was sent to the association's central archives in Europe to be formatted for greeting card/postcard reproduction.
