About this seller
ProfessionalProduct description
This elegant side table dates back to the 1950s and represents an iconic example of Czechoslovak "Mid-Century" design. The characteristic "kidney" shape of the top was very popular during this period and became a symbol of modern living, bringing playfulness and organic lines into interiors. The table embodies the era's effort to combine aesthetics with practical use in smaller urban apartments, while its lightweight visual form creates an airy impression in any space.
The design and construction of the table are based on a minimalist approach, where slender, conically shaped legs and a practical storage shelf between them play the leading roles. The combination of light wood with a contrasting top highlights its elegant and timeless appearance, which easily integrates into both modern and historically inspired interiors. Quality construction and clean workmanship are proof of the high level of Czechoslovak furniture making, which was able to create visually captivating pieces of furniture even with limited resources.
The table has undergone professional restoration, making it not only visually attractive but also fully ready for further functional use in an interior. Its restored state, along with its historical value and iconic shape, significantly increases the collector's appeal of this piece. For its owner, this table represents not only a functional design solitaire but also an investment in the legacy of Czechoslovak modernism, which maintains lasting value thanks to its aesthetic quality and state of preservation.
