Le Poisson Chantant [1960] - Joan Miró [1893-1983] Original lithograph - 31 cm x 24 cm Framed size: 51 cm x 47 cm Original color lithograph by Joan Miró. First edition from the 1960s. A magnificent major work, produced exclusively to illustrate a book on his lithographic work. Superb period wooden frame, expertly crafted. Beautiful silver leaf patina. Joan Miró was a Catalan painter, sculptor, engraver and ceramist. His work reflects his attraction to the subconscious, to the childlike spirit and to his homeland. His early work shows strong Fauvist, Cubist and Expressionist influences, before evolving into flat painting with a certain naive edge. In Paris, his work became more dreamlike, in line with the surrealist movement to which he belonged. In his honor, the Joan-Miró Foundation was created in Barcelona in 1975. Other institutions with important collections of Miró's work include the Pilar and Joan Miró Foundation in Palma de Mallorca, the Musée National d'Art Moderne in Paris, the Musée d'Art Moderne in Lille and the MoMA in New York...
