Description:
Charlottenburg Palace (German: Schloss Charlottenburg) is the largest and most impressive palace in Berlin.
Destruction and reconstruction: During the Second World War (in 1943), the palace was largely destroyed by bombing. After the war, it was meticulously rebuilt over decades to its former glory.
A special piece of German history for the enthusiast!
Characteristics of the artwork:
Dimensions: 17.5x13.5
Technique: Original intaglio etching (Org. Radierung indicated in pencil in the lower left).
Finish: Subtly and skillfully hand-colored (hand-coloured) in soft green and blue tones and beige.
Title: Handwritten title in the lower left (Berlin...).
Frame: Complete in the original, vintage mid-century frame with passe-partout and hanging loop. The back is still authentically sealed with fabric tape. Such prints often date from the period 1920-1960 and may contain a signed monogram, possibly visible upon removal of the backing.
Back: The back of this frame displays clear characteristics of an authentic vintage or old frame (often from between the 1930s and 1970s). Key visual features: Brown paper masking tape (kraft paper), Mounting nails, Old-fashioned cardboard, Triangular metal hanging eyelet.
Condition: Etching in very good vintage condition, ready to hang immediately; frame has some damage, but understandable given its age.
