About this seller
Private sellerProduct description
The ClassiCon Bibendum armchair, designed by Eileen Gray, is an iconic piece of furniture that embodies the essence of early modernist design. This particular example stands out due to its striking purple color scheme, which gives a bold and contemporary twist to the classic silhouette. The distinctive tubular backrest and seat, inspired by the famous Michelin Man, make this an instantly recognizable design in design history.
This armchair is crafted with high-quality purple leather, ensuring a luxurious appearance and a comfortable seating experience. The base is made of chrome-plated steel, creating a sleek contrast with the soft, rounded shapes of the upholstery. The chair is certified (P90159), confirming its authenticity and production by ClassiCon.
The chair is in excellent condition, with the original finish and character of the leather well preserved. The construction is sturdy, and the materials demonstrate the quality expected of such a premium design piece. Although purchased in the late eighties for a very luxurious interior, the armchair is in exceptionally good condition, as if it were new. No discoloration or loose threads anywhere, etc. In short, an absolute top-class piece that rarely comes onto the market in this condition.
This Bibendum armchair is a statement piece that fits perfectly into both modern and eclectic interiors. It offers a unique opportunity to bring a piece of design history into your home that is not only functional but also serves as a striking work of art in the room.
