Modern Orientalist Painting - Signed Sahraoui - Beirut Provenance
Original oil on canvas depicting a camel corps scene in front of an oriental city. A beautiful collector's item with a unique history.
Technique: Oil painting executed with a pronounced palette knife technique (impasto), offering beautiful relief and vibrant light.
Signature: Signed "Sahraoui" lower left. This name and the style of the work are reminiscent of the Tunisian painter Schems-Eddine Sahraoui (born in 1948), a leading figure of the Tunis School.
Provenance: Authentic period piece (circa 1970) bearing on the reverse the stamp of the Barjawi Gallery (Beirut, Lebanon), a renowned art and framing institution of the time.
Mounting: Presented on its original gilt stretcher/frame.
Dimensions: 39 x 30 cm.
Condition: Good vintage condition, "as found." Note some signs of wear and a slight loss of paint along the lower edge (visible in the detail photos), attesting to the painting's age.
