Elegant contemporary sculpture by Eddy Stikkelorum (1955) - Title: 2007/04/01 - painted fiberglass/reinforced epoxy on styrofoam - 50 x 50 x 93 cm - 2007 - red.
With its organic, flowing form - reminiscent of a leaf or flame - this is a modern eye-catcher that shows a different play of lines and light from every angle.
About the artist:
Eddy Stikkelorum, born in The Hague in 1955, is a Dutch visual artist and free designer known for his pursuit of artistic freedom. After training as an interior designer at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague, where he felt limited in his creativity, he pursued advanced training under the guidance of Joop Beljon, then director of the academy.
In 1984, Stikkelorum decided to focus entirely on autonomous free work. His oeuvre consists mainly of sculptures and objects made of modern materials such as polyester, laminated wood, Perspex and epoxy. His works are characterized by abstract forms that embrace emptiness and space, striving to make the intangible visible.
Stikkelorum has completed various commissions for municipalities and ministries, but his focus is on free work. His art has been featured in both national and international exhibitions, and he is represented by Michele Mariaud Gallery in New York.
