Product description
This elegant abstract sculpture by Dutch artist Ineke van Zuuren beautifully demonstrates her fascination with organic form, balance, and spatial harmony. A gracefully curved teak element appears to float effortlessly above a solid stone base, connected only by a slender metal rod. The contrast between the warm, flowing wood and the raw architectural stone creates a compelling dialogue between nature and geometry.
Carved from a single piece of richly figured teak, the crescent-shaped form possesses an almost weightless quality. Its smooth, continuous curves invite the viewer to walk around the sculpture, revealing constantly changing silhouettes and subtle shifts in light across the polished surface. The composition achieves a remarkable sense of movement while remaining perfectly balanced, embodying the restrained elegance characteristic of Dutch abstract sculpture from the late twentieth century.
Van Zuuren’s work reflects the influence of Scandinavian modernism and Minimalism, where purity of form and honest materials take precedence over ornament. The combination of teak, stone, and steel results in a timeless sculptural object that functions equally well as fine art or as a sophisticated architectural accent within a contemporary interior.
With its refined proportions, exceptional craftsmanship, and harmonious interplay of materials, this sculpture is a beautiful example of Dutch organic abstraction and an expressive statement piece for collectors of modern sculpture.
Condition
Excellent condition. The teak displays a rich, warm patina, while the stone base and metal support remain in excellent original condition.
