My fascination for trees has gradually become well-known; I call them tree portraits. Visible in their form is what has happened in the life of the tree.
Happily grown freely, reaching for the sky, but also tormented, bent by the wind, torn off, sawn and chopped, with fruitful seasons and always a home for birds and insects. Trees live in a different time zone with ages far exceeding ours.

After his education at the Academy of Fine Arts Rotterdam and Pratt Institute in New York, he mainly worked as an architect. He has been drawing realistically his entire life. Subjects are mainly character sketches of nature. Work can be found in private collections in Europe and the USA.
