About this seller
Private sellerProduct description
This is an authentic Oliver Standard Visible Writer No. 4, an iconic piece of office history. This typewriter is known for its unique 'wing' design, where the type arms rest on the sides and strike down onto the platen, a mechanism that makes it instantly recognizable.
This machine, made of heavy metal, has a dark green to black finish and cream-colored keys. The patent plate shows dates going back to the end of the 19th century, making this a truly antique object. It was one of the first typewriters where the user could see what was being typed, hence the name 'Visible Writer'.
The typewriter has a beautiful patina that testifies to a long life and frequent use. It is an object with a story and a lot of character, ideal for the collector or as a decorative piece. The mechanical operation has not been tested.
Place this piece on a desk, in a bookcase, or on a dresser as a striking conversation piece. It fits perfectly into an industrial, vintage, or classic interior and adds a touch of authentic, historical charm to any space.
