This ancient terracotta temple horse from India dates from the first half of the 20th century and is an impressive example of South Indian folk art. The statue belongs to the tradition of the Ayyanar horses from Tamil Nadu, which were placed as protective guardians at temples and village shrines. It has an old restoration to the ear, but this is barely visible.
