Product description
Oil painting on panel depicting a landscape, created by Mario Bettinelli in the 1930s. Diameter 47 cm, height 57 cm including frame. Mario Bettinelli (Treviglio, 1880 – Milan, 1953) was an Italian painter, known primarily for his portraits and caricatures. His art, characterized by a confident stroke and a profound understanding of his subjects' psychology, made him a prominent figure in the Milanese art scene of his time. Bettinelli trained at the Moretto School of Art and Crafts in Brescia, where he specialized in portrait and caricature techniques. These skills proved fundamental for his subsequent career, during which he portrayed numerous important figures, often with a touch of humor and irony. Bettinelli's style is eclectic and evolved throughout his career. In his early works, the influence of academic tradition is noticeable, with a taste for detail and a classical composition. Subsequently, his style became freer and more experimental, approaching contemporary artistic movements. His favorite subjects are female figures, often portrayed in sensual and languid poses, and figures from high society. His caricatures, on the other hand, are characterized by a sharp stroke and a great ability to capture the distinctive features of his subjects.
