Product description
Condition: Color: Cream white. Fully upholstered in rust brown. Very good condition. Description: The design duo Charles and Ray Eames played a pivotal role in shaping the development of post-war American design. Their guiding principle was the creation of designs that were both high-quality and aesthetically sophisticated. The use of innovative materials—such as die-cast aluminum and fiberglass—combined with ergonomic principles was revolutionary at the time. Their extensive body of work influenced generations of architects and designers. Charles Eames was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 1970 and to the American Academy of Arts and Letters in 1977. The couple designed the Fiberglass Chair in 1948; however, production did not begin until the early 1950s, as the manufacturing process proved technically challenging. A breakthrough was achieved through the use of glass-fiber-reinforced polyester resin. Today, the Fiberglass Chair is considered one of the most important design icons of the 20th century.
