About this seller
Private sellerProduct description
I offer for sale an interesting and ancient volume of Renaissance medicine, a work by Oddo degli Oddi (Oddus de Oddis), an Italian physician and scholar of the 16th century.
Exactissima et dilucidissima expositio in librum Artis Medicinalis Galeni, an edition printed in Venice in 1574, by Paolo and Antonio Meietti.
The work is dedicated to the study and interpretation of Galen's Ars Medica, one of the fundamental texts of the Western medical tradition, and represents an interesting testimony to the scientific and academic culture of the Renaissance.
The specimen features an evocative ancient binding, apparently in parchment, with evident traces of time that bear witness to its long history.
Of particular interest are the handwritten annotations on the frontispiece and the folded plate visible inside the volume.
An object of considerable historical and bibliographic charm, suitable for collectors of antique books, scholars of medical history, specialized libraries, and antiquarians.
