Edgard Fonteyne (1930-2016) was a Belgian self-taught artist and sculptor born in Bruges and deceased in Oostduinkerke. His father, Norbert Edgard, inspired him to practice plastic art. Since 1972, Edgard was engaged in sculpting full-time; his classical, entirely handmade unique artworks, primarily depicting women and sacred figures, show the nudity and purity of man as he enters the earth.
