NX40 Wall Lamps by Louis Kalff for Philips, The Netherlands (1950s)
Louis Kalff, the visionary art director of Philips, shaped the company’s design language through his modernist and forward-looking approach. His creations from the 1950s are highly prized for their elegant balance of function and form.
The NX40 wall lamps feature a refined combination of a curved wood and metal frame supporting a cylindrical frosted glass shade. This juxtaposition of materials creates a warm yet contemporary character, with light diffused softly through the glass while the frame adds structure and contrast.
The lamps are labelled and in very good condition, making them rare and highly collectible examples of Dutch mid-century lighting design.
