Product description
Fantastic ceramic artwork with a strong visual presence, created through the expressive combination of form and color. It was designed by Noomi Backhausen, a Danish artist well known for her bold, joyful, and expressive designs, for Søholm Pottery. Each piece was produced by hand (model 3556), making every plaque unique.
This work is highly representative of Noomi Backhausen’s artistic style, as well as Danish Mid-Century Modern design more broadly. Beyond its design, the true distinction of this piece lies in the craftsmanship of Søholm Pottery—particularly in the richness, depth, and sophistication of the glaze—which gives it a truly special character.
I have tried to capture some of these qualities in the photos under different lighting conditions. Displaying the plaque in a well-lit indoor or outdoor setting will best reveal its full beauty.
The piece is signed “NB” on the front, in the upper right corner. In the same area, there is a remnant of a sticker (partially removed; see photo 10). The back bears the Søholm Pottery stamp.
