Original abstract painting from my Traces series.
For this series, I used the wood grain of the dining table from my childhood home as a starting point. The table literally bore the traces of decades of daily life. By photographing these structures and digitally distorting them, the idea for this painting eventually emerged.
Never Ending Story is the most serene work in the series. Layered structures and subtle color shifts still allude to the original wood patterns, while the image has simultaneously become completely abstract.
The title refers to the famous 1980s song and to the idea that memories and stories endure, even when houses change and objects disappear.
