Elegant 19th-century candlestick whose silhouette draws its inspiration directly from antique architecture and the grand neoclassical repertoire that permeated French decorative arts. Standing like a small column, it features a long fluted shaft with a dark patina, crowned by a capital richly adorned with foliage. The square base continues this ornamentation with floral and vegetal relief motifs, while the gilded areas highlight the overall architecture and delicately catch the light. This combination of patinas, the taste for the antique column, and the abundance of decoration are characteristic of the historicist creations of the second half of the 19th century, during the Napoleon III era, around the years . With its height of approximately 21 cm, this candlestick possesses a striking presence. A tall candle will further accentuate its slender silhouette, whether on a console table, a writing desk, a mantelpiece, or as part of an arrangement combining antique objects and contemporary decor.
