Italian Neo-Renaissance gueridon, ca. 1860–1885
A very beautiful and richly hand-carved Italian salon gueridon from the second half of the 19th century, made of solid walnut. This piece is crafted in the Neo-Renaissance style with Baroque influences and is characterized by exceptionally deep and sculptural carving.
The table rests on four elegantly curved legs, each crowned with an expressive lion's head, a symbol of strength and prestige. The detachable tray and the equally carved lower shelf demonstrate refined craftsmanship with subtle asymmetry, typical of studio-made pieces.
