This unique handmade piece of art or useful design object will probably lead a nomadic
existence in your living room or serve for your drinks or snacks. It will go wherever you need it, ready for use.
Working with high-gloss epoxy resin reminds Dutch designer Melchior van Dansik of the canals and reflective colors in Venice, Italy. The underside of the table top has sparkling drops like those hanging under bridges after a rain.
See the other ad for a matching, taller, yellow table.
The glasses on top are for styling only, not available for purchase.
Ndebele Tables have been represented and sold at art fairs such as Kunstrai Amsterdam, Art Den Haag, Collect London, Tefaf Maastricht, Pan Amsterdam or on Artsy.
THE STORY OF NDEBELE TABLES
Elegant, amazingly strong and stable.
Image of an African woman. Everyone has seen a tripoid table. It is the simplest way to make a structure that does not wobble. Perfectly simple, not so easily improved.
Van Dansik concentrated on one essential detail: the place where the three rods meet.
By extruding the shape and joining the legs together by winding metal wire around them, a new stunningly smart and functional design was created.
When van Dansik saw this elegant long ringed "neck" appear in the silhouette of his table, it immediately reminded him of the decorated necks of the Ndebele women in South Africa.
The iconic Ndebele table is so light that you can pick it up by the neck and carry it in one hand. Yet it is surprisingly strong and can carry objects up to 5 kilograms.
