An absolutely museum-worthy and rare Japanese Wajima-nuri (Wajima lacquerware) framed wall panel, crafted in the shape of a traditional fan (Sensu). The artwork depicts the dramatic and iconic "Renjishi" (father and son sacred lions) from traditional Japanese Noh and Kabuki theater. The craftsmanship is of the highest level. The lions' manes are hand-engraved with breathtaking precision in gold and silver using the refined Chinkin technique. The costumes are decorated with real gold and silver leaf that beautifully contrast against the deep, reflective black Urushi lacquer base. The panel comes from a private Japanese collection (1-owner, approx. 1970) and is in immaculate, original collector's condition. Includes the rare official certification and gold seals on the back.
