Museum of Horrors - No. 25 - It Always Brings Happiness
This is issue No. 25 of a series published by V. Lenepveu between 1899 and 1900. In this caricature, Auguste Thomas is depicted as a blowfly.
The dimensions are approximately 64 x 49.5 cm. It is printed on very thin, delicate paper from 1900, which has suffered tears and damage over time. These are shown in the image.
Historical Context:
Auguste Thomas (1845–1911), mayor and industrialist of Gravières, is depicted here as a blowfly emerging from the hole of an outhouse to retrieve his cross (Thomas was, among other things, the administrator of the outhouse association).
