A striking studio glass vase from the Mdina Glass manufactory in Malta, crafted in the 1970s. The organically shaped silhouette with its slightly tapered neck and asymmetrical opening underscores the free, sculptural character of the design. Particularly noteworthy is the vibrant interplay of translucent greens, yellows, oranges, and blues, applied in large, overlapping segments. This so-called patchwork or lava effect is typical of early Mdina work and formally reminiscent of Italian Murano studio glass, yet retains its own distinct character with its softer, almost landscape-like color palette. The trapped air bubbles and flowing transitions attest to the handcrafted nature of the piece and lend it additional depth. Original Mdina Glass Malta label present.
Condition: Very good vintage condition with minor signs of age and minimal manufacturing marks such as small air bubbles in the glass.
