Azure Murano glass vase by Venini, designed by Alessandro Mendini in the 1980s. Diameter 18.5 cm, height 12.5 cm. From the late 1970s, Alessandro Mendini was among the innovators of Italian design. He worked for numerous companies such as Alessi, Venini, Bisazza, Cartier, Hermès, Supreme NYC, Swatch, Swarovski, and many others. He received numerous international awards, including the Italian industrial design award Compasso d'Oro in 1979; in 1981 with Studio Alchimia; and in 2014 for his lifetime achievement. He directed many architectural magazines, including Domus, Casabella, and Modo, which he himself founded.
