A unique vintage cup combining a white porcelain insert with a fine 95% pewter mount, crafted in the 1970s-1980s. The porcelain cup fits into a cylindrical pewter mount. This mount is adorned with a continuous frieze of raised circular motifs, arranged around the body with remarkable regularity. A rocaille-inspired openwork handle completes the piece. Its volutes, scrolls, and vegetal motifs echo the decorative vocabulary of antique pieces, executed with great character. Underneath the base, the mount bears a significant eagle hallmark indicating "Fine Pewter 95%, Hand-worked." This mark attests to the quality of the metal and its artisanal craftsmanship. Entirely detachable, the porcelain cup bears a raised mark on its base referring to Moustiers. It evokes a French tradition of tableware that greatly inspired 20th-century productions. The pure white of the porcelain contrasts with the gently patinated shades of the pewter. Light highlights the raised details of the frieze and glides into the cut-outs of the handle, lending the piece a presence that is both brilliant and ancient.
