This is a set of four vintage paintings, hand-painted on wooden panels in the 'Mooi Indië' style. The works are distinguished by their unique, elongated oval shape reminiscent of a surfboard, offering a charming view of the idealized Indonesian landscape.
Each panel is crafted from tropical wood and dates from the mid-twentieth century. The artists used oil paint to depict vibrant, rural scenes, complete with lush sawahs, traditional huts, palm trees, and a distinctive volcano on the horizon. The paintings are executed in a palette of rich, earthy, and tropical hues, reflecting the atmosphere of the region. Two of the works are signed by the artists, 'Karto' and 'Sunarto'.
The paintings are in good vintage condition, consistent with their age. The panels show an authentic character and patina, which contributes to their historical charm. The original colors are still vibrant, and the overall presentation of the set is coherent and decorative.
