It forms the perfect counterpart to the Bhumisparsha exemplar, as this Buddha is depicted in the Vitarka Mudra. This gesture, in which the thumb and index finger touch, symbolizes the transmission of knowledge, discussion, and the intellectual argumentation of Buddhist teachings. Javanese Craftsmanship and Architecture The iconic architectural design of the throne is directly inspired by the stepped temple structures (Candi) of Central Java. The broad, round double lotus throne supports the figure with a robust serenity. The face, with its characteristic full lips and downward gaze, reflects the classic Javanese aesthetic known from Borobudur.
