Product description
This large piece of furniture has a strong horizontal structure, with four wide drawers above four robust panel doors. The front of each drawer is visually divided in two, creating the impression of eight smaller drawers and giving the upper part of the front a powerful geometric rhythm. A wide, cantilevered top runs the full length of the furniture, while the sides are constructed from an open, geometric grid that gives the Sideboard a distinct architectural character. The four door panels are framed by deeply profiled moldings, creating a strong sense of depth in the front. Small, square details on the drawer fronts form a subtle contrast with the dark finish. Particular attention has been paid to the construction and proportions. The furniture is exceptionally solid and weighs 201 kg; this reflects the use of heavy materials and high-quality craftsmanship. The ebonized finish allows the wood grain to remain visible and gives the furniture a subdued, graphic appearance. Despite its considerable dimensions, the repeating, four-part structure creates a balanced and harmonious front. The Sideboard comes from a private interior in Knokke (Belgium), which was furnished with high-quality international design pieces. The special dimensions and construction suggest that the piece was custom-made for the original interior, rather than being mass-produced. A distinctive and exceptionally well-crafted piece of furniture with an architectural design language. The architectural design shows a clear kinship with the furniture designs of Charles Rennie Mackintosh. In impeccable condition; the furniture looks almost new and shows no significant signs of wear.
