Product description
The lightness of the black lacquered metal frame and the warmth of teak define this modular bookcase produced by Amma Torino during the 1960s, a design that perfectly reflects the Italian interest of the period in flexible, rational and highly functional furnishing systems. The slender uprights support the shelves and suspended cabinet with remarkable visual lightness, allowing the composition to be defined by the balance between solid volumes and open space. The lower cabinet with sliding doors concentrates the storage function within a compact volume, while the two upper shelves create an open display area that establishes a natural dialogue with the surrounding architecture. The adjustable positioning of the elements along the uprights highlights the modular concept behind the project, a feature that became central to Italian furniture design of the 1960s as interiors increasingly demanded adaptable and versatile solutions. The teak veneer, selected for the continuity of its grain, provides warmth and material richness while contrasting elegantly with the restrained metal structure. Small recessed circular pulls and the clean geometry of the sliding doors reinforce the essential vocabulary of the design, free from unnecessary ornamentation. The result is a refined example of Italian modernist furniture, combining modularity, practicality and understated sophistication with a timeless architectural presence. Condition: Good overall condition, with minor signs consistent with age and use. Dimensions: Width 80 cm – Depth 40 cm – Height 220 cm Ref.: M0878
