Product description
Antique wooden box from 1897, used as a drying/preservation box for tobacco leaves. Modernist, retains some of the yellow paint on the sieves. Brought from Havana by an officer who participated in the war in Cuba, which ended in 1898.
Dimensions: 42 cm high and 35 cm long.
The wood has woodworm holes, but these have not been covered to avoid diminishing the value; they have only been disinfected and treated. One of the sieves shows signs of rust, and on the round sieve, part of the grid is missing, having been discarded due to the oxidation of the metal.
