Product description
This is a modernist pendant lamp, manufactured in the Space Age style characteristic of the 80s/90s. The design immediately stands out due to its layered structure of horizontal discs, creating a dynamic and sculptural effect. This type of lighting, often referred to as a 'disc lamp', is a beautiful example of how functionality and aesthetics merged during that period.
The lamp is constructed from a series of translucent blue plexiglass discs placed around a central, matte white glass diffuser. This construction provides a soft, diffused light that shines atmospherically through the blue layers. The fixture, including the ceiling rose, is made of silver-colored metal, which forms a sleek contrast with the vibrant blue. The 'Linea 301' sticker inside the canopy suggests an Italian origin, a country that was a leader in lighting design at the time.
The overall condition of the lamp is very good, retaining its original parts and characteristic appearance. The colors are still bright and the structure is completely intact, testifying to the quality of the materials used at the time. The piece bears a patina consistent with its age, which contributes to its authentic vintage appeal.
This pendant lamp is a distinct statement piece that fits perfectly above a dining table, in a hallway, or as a central light point in a living room. The design comes into its own in an interior with Mid-Century Modern, Space Age, or eclectic influences, where it provides both functional lighting and an artistic accent.
