Modernist ceramic vase, made by ceramist Max Idlas in Paris (Montmartre workshop) between the 1950s and 1960s. The piece is numbered 32 under the base.
The flattened body rests on a thick, massive base that elegantly tapers to a foot.
The object is shaped as a unique piece and fired at high temperature to obtain an "oxblood" red enamel, a nuanced, deep, luminous bordeaux enhanced with black, whose shades change depending on light exposure.
A particularly rare and sought-after color variation in the artist's work.
Dimensions: Height 18 cm, width 20 cm, thickness 8 cm
Signature: Incised in hollow under the base "Idlas" and numbered 32, generally corresponding to the model number of the piece.
Condition: Very good general condition for a vintage piece. To be noted for simple transparency: a fine superficial scratch without gravity on the body and, at the neck, slight characteristic manufacturing asperities due to the reactions of metal oxides and high-temperature firing.
